Two standards sit behind every cover, frame and grate we cast — one for the quality system that makes each pour repeatable, one for the physical performance of the finished product.
Our products have been independently tested under a quality system in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 — covering everything from incoming raw material to the finished, inspected casting.
Assessed and certified as meeting the requirements of EN 124:1994, with recognition under the British Standards Institution (BSI) Kitemark® scheme, covering load class, dimensions and material performance.
Ductile Cast Iron takes its strength from a controlled, repeatable process — every stage checked before the next begins.
Sand moulds are prepared to the exact internal and external dimensions specified for each product code — from a 150×150mm dish grate to an 1100×1100mm manhole cover.
Ductile iron is melted and its metallurgical composition checked before pouring, so the finished casting delivers the corrosion resistance and structural strength the standard requires.
Molten iron is poured into the prepared mould and allowed to cool under controlled conditions, giving ductile iron its characteristic machinability and resistance to ground movement.
Covers are fitted to their frames, hinges and locks tested, and hardware — rubber seals, bolts, lifting keys — matched to the product type.
Each product line is checked against its rated class — B125, C250 or D400 — before it is released against a customer order.
Every product in our catalogue is rated for a specific installation area, from footways through to full carriageways. Choosing the correct class for the site is central to the product's long-term performance.

Final responsibility for correct class selection and installation rests with the appointed engineer or contractor for each site.
